Ottawa has put a two-year cap on study permit<\/span><\/a> approvals in 2024 to regulate the admission process and only allow the most deserving ones to apply. Similarly, British Columbia launches the following changes for international students to save them from unreliable recruiters and institutions. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Three New BC PNP Streams <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The following new streams will replace the existing International Graduate and International Post-Graduate streams.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Bachelor’s Stream- <\/b>Recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree from a legitimate post-secondary institution can apply for this stream. It is also applicable to graduates with an indeterminate full-time job offer. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Master’s Stream- <\/b>Recent graduates with a master’s degree from a legitimate post-secondary institution can apply for this stream. It is also applicable to graduates with at least a year of full-time work experience. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Doctorate Stream- <\/b>Candidates and graduates of doctoral-level programs from legitimate institutions will be able to apply for this stream. PhD candidates can apply directly. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Does that mean there’s no permanent residency option for students with diploma or certificate programs in Canada?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

No, you can still qualify and apply for other BC PNP streams. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Language Requirements <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As you know, there are three ways to immigrate to BC via BC PNP. Those are the British Columbia Express Entry Stream, Skills Immigration Stream and Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. The Ministry increased the minimal competence level of language requirements for all of them except the Health Authority Stream. The current minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) requirement is 8 for the new graduate streams. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
